Request an Interview

Northwestern Law is the only law school in the country that strongly encourages all applicants to interview as a part of the admissions process. Interviews provide the Admissions Committee with additional information about your interpersonal and communication skills, maturity, and motivation. Interviews also help us preserve the strong sense of community and cooperative culture for which we are known. Finally, interviews provide you an opportunity to learn more about Northwestern Law.

Depending on the program to which you are applying, you may have several interview options. The Admissions Committee weights equally all interviews, regardless of where they take place or with whom. Click below on the program to which you are applying for additional instructions:

JD, JD-PhD, and JD-LLM Applicants
Early Decision JD Applicants
Accelerated JD Applicants
LLM/Kellogg, LLM IHR, and LLM Applicants
Two-Year JD Applicants
LLM in Taxation Applicants
JD-MBA Applicants

If you plan to interview on-campus, please consult our Northwestern Law visitor guide. You may also take a student-led tour or observe a class.

JD, JD-PhD, and JD-LLM Applicants

If you are applying to the regular decision JD program, the JD-PhD program, or to one of the joint JD-LLM programs in either International Human Rights or Taxation, you may arrange an on-campus interview with a member of the Admissions Office staff or a student admissions counselor, or an off-campus interview with a member of our 700-person Alumni Admissions Association ("AAA"). Telephone interviews are not available for applicants to these programs.

JD applicants wishing to interview on campus with a staff member or student admissions counselor should schedule their interview through the On-Campus Interview Request site.

JD applicants wishing to interview off-campus with an alumnus/alumna should submit their request through the JD Off-Campus Interview Request site.

Early Decision JD Applicants

JD applicants who are applying through the binding Early Decision program are required to interview on campus before November 15. On-campus interviews should be scheduled through the On-Campus Interview Request site. Early Decision candidates may not interview off campus.

Accelerated JD Applicants
Accelerated JD applicants are required to interview as part of their application. Accelerated JD candidates may interview off-campus with an alumni interviewer or on-campus with a staff member. To schedule an off-campus interview, candidates should use our Off-Campus Interview Request site, and the deadline to submit an off-campus interview request is December 1st. On-campus interviews should be scheduled through the On-Campus Interview Request site. Either way, the interview must be completed by December 15th. AJD applicants who are unable to schedule an on-campus interview or off-campus interview should contact the Admissions Office at 312-503-8465 or admissions@law.northwestern.edu, and we will discuss alternatives with you.
