Northwestern Law Expands International Human Rights Program
Beginning in fall 2008, American lawyers will be able to enroll in the one-year graduate degree program that leads to an LLM in International Human Rights (LLM IHR). Northwestern Law is also launching a new joint JD-LLM in International Human Rights (JD-LLM IHR) degree program.
Three Alumni Recognized at 5th Annual SFPIF Public Service Dinner
Jeanne Bishop (JD ’84), Chuck Hogren (JD ’61), and Carter Phillips (JD ’77) will receive recognition for their commitment to public interest work at Northwestern Law’s 5th Annual Student Funded Public Interest Fellowship (SFPIF) Public Service Benefit Dinner on Thursday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Law School Atrium. The event, established in 2004, brings law school alumni and current students together to celebrate and honor individual commitments to serving the public interest.
Ceremony Celebrates Endowed Chair Appointments
An appointment to an endowed chair is the highlight of an academic career, and these important positions help Northwestern Law attract and retain distinguished faculty. This year we honor with a ceremony and reception the installation of Andrew Koppelman as the John Paul Stevens Professor of Law, Steven Lubet as the Edna B. and Ednyfed H. Williams Professor of Law, and David J. Scheffer as the Mayer Brown/Robert A. Helman Professor of Law.
Patricia Soung (JD ’08) Awarded Soros Fellowship
Patricia Soung (JD ‘08) was awarded a prestigious Soros Justice Fellowship from the Open Society Institute to work with the Bluhm Legal Clinic's Children and Family Justice Center (CFJC) at Northwestern Law. The Soros Justice Fellowship supports groundbreaking work to reform the American justice system.
Appellate Judge Stephen Williams Delivers Trienens Lecture
Stephen F. Williams, senior judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, will visit the Law School as the Howard J. Trienens Visiting Judicial Scholar for 2007-2008. As part of his visit, Williams will deliver a lecture to the Northwestern Law community at 4 p.m. on February 28 in Lincoln Hall.
