SEC Chairman Cox to Speak at Corporate Counsel Institute in Chicago; SEC Regional Director Fagel to Speak at Institute in San Francisco
SEC Chairman Christopher Cox and SEC Regional Director Marc Fagel will deliver keynote speeches at Northwestern University School of Law’s 47th Annual Corporate Counsel Institute.

Northwestern Law Announces Accelerated JD, Other Proposals
Northwestern Law will offer an accelerated JD program starting in 2009 as one of the initiatives of a major new plan to maximize its graduates’ success in the changing worlds of the legal profession and the clients it serves.

Northwestern Law is pleased to announce the following 2007-08 recipients of several public interest and public service fellowship awards:

Yale Professor Explores Implications of the First Amendment
Robert C. Post, David Boies Professor of Law at Yale Law School, discusses interpretations of the First Amendment, its relation to the creation and circulation of knowledge, and the constitutional protections for academic freedom in a three-part lecture series at Northwestern Law.

Welcome Back from Spring Break 2008
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your two-week spring break. I would like to congratulate those students and faculty who participated in International Team Project field studies in Brazil, Ethopia, India, New Zealand, Tanzania, Thailand, and Vietnam. We look forward to learning more about your final projects.

Northwestern Law Expands International Human Rights Program
Beginning in fall 2008, American lawyers will be able to enroll in the one-year graduate degree program that leads to an LLM in International Human Rights (LLM IHR). Northwestern Law is also launching a new joint JD-LLM in International Human Rights (JD-LLM IHR) degree program.

Three Alumni Recognized at 5th Annual SFPIF Public Service Dinner
Jeanne Bishop (JD ’84), Chuck Hogren (JD ’61), and Carter Phillips (JD ’77) will receive recognition for their commitment to public interest work at Northwestern Law’s 5th Annual Student Funded Public Interest Fellowship (SFPIF) Public Service Benefit Dinner on Thursday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Law School Atrium. The event, established in 2004, brings law school alumni and current students together to celebrate and honor individual commitments to serving the public interest.

Ceremony Celebrates Endowed Chair Appointments
An appointment to an endowed chair is the highlight of an academic career, and these important positions help Northwestern Law attract and retain distinguished faculty. This year we honor with a ceremony and reception the installation of Andrew Koppelman as the John Paul Stevens Professor of Law, Steven Lubet as the Edna B. and Ednyfed H. Williams Professor of Law, and David J. Scheffer as the Mayer Brown/Robert A. Helman Professor of Law.
