The Northwestern
Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property addresses subjects
relating to intellectual property and the intersection of law
and technology, including law and biotechnology, copyrights,
the Internet, media, patents, telecommunications, and
trademarks. The online format of the Journal permits these
rapidly developing issues to be addressed in a timely manner
by combining scholarly analyses with an up-to-date examination
of the current news in intellectual property law.
The Journal is proud to announce the publication of the third issue in its seventh volume. This issue tracks the issues covered in our recent symposium, "Riding the Wave: Understanding Recent Developments in IP Law," which took place at the Law School in spring 2009. This issue contains thought-provoking articles discussing the recent decision of the Federal Circuit (since granted certiorari by the Supreme Court), In re Bilski. The articles in this issue evaluate alternative methods of software protection in light of the Bilski decision and discuss how the decision reflects an increasing concern about pre-emption of fundamental principles. In addition, this issue contains transcripts of our symposium panels, which covered topics ranging from the Bilski decision itself, to proposed legislative and USPTO rule changes with regard to patents.
