San Francisco Program Note: Keynote Address by Marc Fagel
The 2008 Corporate Counsel Institute's San Francisco session is pleased to announce that SEC Regional Director Marc Fagel will deliver the program's keynote address.
Mr. Fagel was appointed Regional Director of the San Francisco Office by Chairman Christopher Cox in May 2008. Since joining the office more than a decade ago, Mr. Fagel has been a member of the San Francisco enforcement staff and now oversees the office's enforcement and examination functions in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
If you have a question you would like him to address, submit it here.
Chicago Program Note: Linda Chatman Thomsen to Replace Chairman Cox as Keynote Speaker
SEC Chairman Christopher Cox will be unable to present the keynote address at the Corporate Counsel Institute on Friday. As many are aware, he has been in the middle of the current financial crisis on Wall Street and feels it is best that he remain in Washington to be able to quickly respond to events as they occur.
In place of the Chairman, we are honored to have Linda Chatman Thomsen, Director of Enforcement at the SEC. Ms. Thomsen and her staff have been very involved the past few years in investigating and prosecuting securities violations with part of their current focus being investigating possible market manipulation in the securities of certain financial institutions.
Ms. Thomsen has been a member of the commission's enforcement staff for more than 10 years. She joined the enforcement staff in 1995 as an assistant chief litigation counsel, and, in May 2005, she became the eighth director of the Division of Enforcement.
After the address, Ms. Thomsen will participate in a Q&A session. Submit your question here.
